Getting started

Create your account

Get BeloPle from Google Play on Android, or open belople.com in any browser. Sign up with your email, a username and a password of at least 8 characters, or choose Continue with Google.

Every new account is asked for a birthday; with Google, right after you sign in. Enter it carefully: it can only be set once.

Age rules

• You must be at least 13 to join.
• Going Live, sending or receiving gifts, buying coins and cashing out are for adults 18 and over.
• Until you are 18, only people you follow can message you.

Finding your way in the app

The bottom bar has Shorts for videos, Public for photo and text posts, and Chat. Along the top of the feed are Qod (Q o D, the Question of the Day), Belo (videos picked for you), Daily and Following.

Posting videos, photos and text

Videos

In the app, record inside BeloPle with colour filters, cuts, text, stickers and a sound, or pick a video from your phone. On the website, upload a video file. Videos can be up to 3 minutes long. Add a caption with #hashtags and a sound, then choose who can watch: everyone, your followers, or only you.

Photos and text

A photo post holds up to 10 photos, with an optional sound and place. A text post is words only. Both appear in the Public feed, in the app and on the web.

Daily and Q o D

Daily

A Daily is a photo or short video that disappears after 24 hours. Only people who follow you can see it; they can like it or reply to you privately, and you can see who viewed it. Daily is in the Android app. More about Daily

Q o D — Question of the Day

One Question. Many Voices. One Africa. Tap Qod at the top of the feed in the Android app. Each country can have its own Question of the Day, and there is also an Africa Q o D. Answer, react, reply, like answers and share.

Have a great question? Send it in; BeloPle reviews every question before it can be picked. When people love your question or your answer, they can follow you and, if you are both 18 or over, send you gifts. Gifts on an answer open once its writer has posted a few public videos. More about Q o D

Going Live

Lives are hosted from the BeloPle Android app; you can't start one from a browser. You can watch in the app or on belople.com, where viewers comment, send hearts and gifts, and vote in polls.

Who can go Live

• You must be 18 or over.
• You need to meet the requirements shown in the app.

While you are Live

Schedule a Live ahead of time with a waiting room, run polls, pin or hide a comment, mute a viewer for the rest of your Live, or block them everywhere. When it ends, you get a summary. More about Live

Messages and requests

Chat one to one with text, photos and voice notes, in the app and on the web. Reply to a message, react to it, delete it for everyone, or share a BeloPle video into a chat.

Message requests

A first message from someone new arrives as a request. Accept it or simply reply, or decline it and they can't message you again.

Who can message you

In Settings, under Who can message you, choose Everyone, Followers or Nobody.

Coins, gifts and cash-out

Buying coins

Coins are bought on the website, not in the Android app. Sign in at belople.com, open your Wallet, choose Get coins and pay with mobile money in supported African countries. You must be 18 or over. Coins you buy are for spending, such as on gifts; they can't be cashed out.

Gifts

Your followers can support you through gifts on your videos, during your Lives, and on your Q o D questions and answers. Gifts can't be sent on photo or text posts.

Cashing out your earnings

Gifts you receive become earnings in your wallet, and creators who grow can apply for monetization to earn from their videos too, once they meet the requirements shown in the app. To cash out, open your wallet, confirm your mobile money number with the code we email you, and follow the steps. Cash-out is for adults 18 and over. More for creators

Your account

Reset your password

Go to belople.com/reset and enter your account's email; we send a link to choose a new password (check your spam folder too). Joined with Google and never chose a password? Just keep using Continue with Google.

Delete your account

Open Settings, in the app or on the web, and choose Delete account. Confirm with your password, or simply confirm if you joined with Google and never set one. It happens straight away and can't be undone. Payment records are kept for accounting and legal reasons. Full details

Reporting and blocking

Seen something that breaks the community guidelines? Tap the three-dot menu on a video, or on a Public post in the app, and choose Report. Reports go to BeloPle's moderators.

To block someone, open your chat with them, tap the three-dot menu and choose Block. A block stops contact between you across BeloPle. Safety on BeloPle
